Wrathin was intrigued.
The Terran woman was incredibly beautiful.
The more he was around her, the more attracted he feltâsomething that Wrathin hadnât experienced much. He was not one to succumb to the Cravings.
The Cravings was a growing passion that fought against his protocols and programming. Something left in their systems that the tech could not altogether remove. When stimulated, the Cravings were a part of the Rhimodian physiology. Old data, based on their culture before the cyborg draft came, had spoken of it.
Wrathin had never experienced it in its full power.
He did not think it was a legitimate concern.
Until today, anyway.
His tech systems worked to stabilize the sensitized systems. This included hormone surges, but it was not working well. It felt like a war was going on inside his body. One moment he seemed calm, the next exhausted. The next moment he was stimulated and aroused.
And being around Veta, the more his body craved her. It pleased him when she admitted to having no mate before. Mates created complications when the Cravings appeared.
He wanted to test it. To feel the Cravings with her and see if it was the same as previous encounters. Logic said it should be, for heâd fumbled through it with previous humanoids.
However, Veta stirred much more.
Would it be different with her?
Some of his Rhimodian brothers had spoken of the Cravings. Of it happening when on the trading post, Disguised Serenity, where the Rhimodians traded with other systems.
As Wrathin thought about what his unit had told him, none mentioned that the craving could be so intense. Bahran had said it felt almost overwhelming in moments, but Kian had claimed it was easily controllable if it happened.
Who was he to believe? Bahran or Kian?
Or was Wrathin just weak?
He did not like the concept that he could be weaker than Kian, who always seemed to be ruled by his arrogance. The very things that the cyborg implants were supposed to be governing.
Yet here Wrathin was, at the whim of those very needs and desires.
He glanced back over his shoulder.
Veta was climbing into the pool of water. This area, not far from the main entrance, was relatively small and dominated almost entirely by the water in the center. Wrathin knew this cave system and would come here for time alone. The water sounds soothed him.
It seemed, as Veta moaned when she got in the pool, that water soothed her as well. Her sounds of pleasure kept making his member swell, and the cravings inside him start burning.
Even from standing in the doorway, his back to her.
âThank you, and my stars, this water is divine. Not too hot, not too cold,â Veta called back. âYou can come in if you want.â
Wrathin fully turned around. âI will not leave you alone,â he said.
âSo, youâll join me?â she asked, smiling. Her eyes were full of mischief. The water rested just at her chest, so he was not sure if she stood or sat on one of the rocks in the pool. He would have to sit, for the water to hit him as such, but for her, because she was shorter, he did not know.
